Carolyn has lived in Beacon since 2015 and Dutchess County since 2005. She was born and raised in New Jersey. She and her spouse Joe have two children in the Beacon School District.
Carolyn is the Programs and Outreach Manager at Southeastern NY Library Resources Council in Highland, NY, where she has worked since 2012. She holds a Master’s in Library Science and a Master’s in History from the University at Albany. During her graduate studies, she completed an independent study at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and worked at the New York State Library. Her current work at the library council includes managing Digital Navigators of the Hudson Valley, a digital equity program that helps individuals get tech help from local libraries and community-based organizations.
Carolyn believes in civic participation and has been a member of the the City of Beacon’s Traffic Safety Committee since 2020. In prior elections, she has worked as intake inspector for the Dutchess Board of Elections. Other local volunteer roles inclue the Girl Scouts, The Fjord Trail Invasives Task Force, and Beacon Mutual Aid.
Before her career in libraries, Carolyn worked in bookselling, nonprofit development, and financial services. She started her career in theatre, film, and television where she worked as a stage manager, a wardrobe supervisor, a location scout, and as a manager at The Drama Book Shop.
Her hobbies include weightlifting, swimming, running, and hiking. Bennett was her last name, now it is her middle name. There’s no hyphen. “Glauda” rhymes with the way a person from New England would say “chow-dah.”
